The Role
Uxbridge High School is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Food Technician to support our thriving DT Department. This is a key role in ensuring that our students experience high-quality, well-organised practical lessons that build their skills and understanding of food preparation, nutrition, and healthy living.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and setting up of ingredients, equipment, and resources needed for practical cooking sessions. You will also be required to assist in lessons, helping students to work safely and hygienically, and support teachers by maintaining a well-organised, clean, and efficient learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparing materials, ingredients, and equipment before lessons and clearing away afterwards.
* Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring stock is kept replenished and within budget.
* Ensuring kitchens and work areas meet health and safety and food hygiene standards.
* Supporting students during practical sessions to develop their technical skills and confidence.
* Promoting a culture of safe, hygienic practice among students.
We are looking for an individual who is highly organised, practical, and capable of working independently and as part of a team. You should have a strong understanding of food hygiene and safety practices (Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification is desirable, or willingness to obtain it).
