Role advert Police Scotland Technical Support Unit (TSU) provides and maintains advanced and highly specialised technical services to meet the complex requirements of Operational Policing.
Role purpose Applications are invited from enthusiastic and experienced A/V Forensics engineering managers to join Police Scotland’s Technical Support Unit – Audio / Video Forensics section. This role will provide strategic and technical leadership of TSU A/V Forensic teams and support the wider technical management team in the delivery of TSU operational and strategic priorities. They will oversee quality management, ensuring compliance and drive improvement. They will develop strategic partnerships internally and externally to continuously improve the force's capability.
Key responsibilities
* Provide strategic and technical leadership of TSU A/V Forensic teams and support the wider technical management team in delivering TSU priorities.
* Oversee quality management, ensure compliance and drive improvement.
* Develop strategic partnerships internally and externally to continuously improve capability.
* Identify technical capability gaps and commission research and development to exploit opportunities of the digital age.
* Maintain and enhance capability to maximise collaboration with personnel and the force’s capital investment program.
* Offer clear direction through visible, approachable leadership and lead by example.
* Support surveillance and criminal investigations while upholding Police Scotland’s code of ethics and values.
* Engage in an enhanced vetting process; willingness to undertake DV vetting if required.
Key skills

* Ability to manage demanding workloads and resources in high-demand areas
* Willingness to work flexible hours and travel regionally and nationally
* Full UK driving license
* Collate and provide Management Information
* Be on-call and work outside normal hours as required
* Financial management of section including budgets and forecasts
* Implementing policy and providing guidance on legislative and procedural matters related to A/V Forensics / CMP and TSU evidential handling
* Confident presenter; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
* Ability to prepare comprehensive complex technical reports
Note The job description is generic and covers multiple roles within the TSU function. This role will be Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00.
