The Role
The primary focus of this role is to execute the microbiological testing program, delivering accurate, timely, and reliable results to support business decisions and ensure the safety and quality of our food products. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, assist in problem-solving, and support new product development.
* Conduct microbiology tests, interpret results with scientific knowledge and risk assessment.
* Follow safety and housekeeping protocols, report hazards promptly.
* Assist with internal audits and laboratory accreditation.
* Validate, troubleshoot, and monitor laboratory methods and equipment; train team members as needed.
* Coordinate external testing as required.
* Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
* Support the Lab Manager or Lab Analyst as deputy, supporting risk assessments.
Requirements
Non-negotiables:
* Biology, A level or equivalent, or a science-related degree or relevant lab experience.
* Microbiology or Chemistry professional experience.
* Understanding of basic statistics and ISO 17025 accreditation.
* Microbiology testing skills, including PCR (beneficial).
* Strong planning, organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
* Alignment with Weetabix values.
* Curiosity and willingness to innovate.
* Ability to stay current in your field.
Nice to Haves:
* Laboratory experience with ISO 17025 and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
