Spire Parkway Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist and Quality Lead to join our Pathology department.
Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, West Midlands, offers a comprehensive range of private hospital services. Our hospital is rated 'Good' by the CQC for all parts of the inspection except for Patient Care, which is rated 'Outstanding'. The hospital has 51 bedrooms and five operating theatres.
Main duties of the job
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Assist in organizing, managing, and developing services within a specialized area of the pathology service or across multiple services provided by the laboratory at the Hub Hospital, supporting pathology services at spoke site hospitals.
2. Liaise with the Laboratory Consultant and the Pathology Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective services.
3. Lead the local implementation of the pathology quality management system, ensuring compliance with UKAS requirements and corporate standards.
4. Coordinate with the National Pathology Quality Management Team regarding local hub and spoke laboratory quality systems and accreditation status.
5. Participate in the pathology services multi-disciplinary on-call service after appropriate training and competence assessment.
6. Maintain a safe working environment, monitor work areas for hazards, and ensure health and safety legislation compliance.
7. Collaborate with the Quality Manager and other Quality Leads to ensure compliance and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
8. Work flexibly to meet service needs, including extended working hours and participation in on-call duties.

Job responsibilities
Who we're looking for:
* HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
* Degree qualified, HNC Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent, eligible for Associate Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
* Quality Management Qualification
* Relevant NHS or private hospital experience
* Experience working in a laboratory setting, often in challenging conditions
* Ability to work in a performance-driven culture while maintaining safety standards
* Willingness to travel and share expertise across hospital locations
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
