The role in 60 seconds
* Team: Core Infrastructure and Apps (CIA)
* Location: Hybrid working from one of our key office locations at least 2 days per week.
* Working Pattern: Full-time
* Why this role matters: This is a pivotal opportunity to provide 3rd line technical support for critical line of business applications.
What you’ll do
This position reports directly to the Technical Lead and requires the successful candidate to be within commuting distance of one of our key office locations: Bristol, Southampton, or Exeter. A minimum of two office-based days per week is expected, scheduled in alignment with business needs and agreed upon with the Technical Lead Manager. Travel to other office locations to support business needs is anticipated.
The role is integral to the Technology function, with a strong focus on collaboration across our Service Desk, Technical Support, and Engineering teams. The primary objective is to ensure the availability and supportability of critical line-of-business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as escalation point for complex technical incidents from our Service Desk.
* Maintain and support Microsoft Server, Windows Desktop, and Microsoft 365
* Lead application upgrades and cloud migrations.
* Liaise with vendors and internal teams to ensure stable, supportable solutions.
* Maintain accurate technical documentation.
This role operates on a rota system to ensure coverage between 08:00 and 18:00 on weekdays. Flexibility is essential, as many activities, particularly upgrades and maintenance, must be conducted outside of standard working hours. Regular out-of-hours work is a core requirement to minimise business disruption. Overtime payments or time off in lieu are available for this work.

Skills and Attributes
We are seeking a highly capable and adaptable individual with a strong foundation in enterprise application support and modern cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
Essential requirements
* A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Server and Desktop Environments
* In-depth understanding of common Microsoft 365 technologies
* A good understanding of enterprise networking technologies
* Exposure to managing an Azure environment and ideally have achieved Microsoft AZ104 Azure Administrator
* Ability to manage workload collaboratively and in a planned way (We currently utilise Azure DevOps and Service Now)
* A clear understanding of cybersecurity principles and a methodical approach to reducing technical risk
* The ability to communicate clearly and to document fully
* Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise effectively under pressure
* Proven track record of owning and delivering to a high standard
* A desire to learn new technologies as we develop our technology roadmap
It would also be desirable, but not essential, to have:
* Practical experience of common applications used in a law firm setting such as iManage, Elite 3E, Intapp Time
* Experience in PowerShell and automating routine processes
* Experience of working alongside a Managed Service Provider
