Location: Exeter - Hybrid
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 DoE
The Role
A leading design-and-build consultancy is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a growing team working on high-impact water and wastewater projects. With recent contract awards, this role offers the opportunity to work on innovative schemes that improve resilience and sustainability of critical infrastructure for communities across the region. You will be instrumental in shaping electrical designs from feasibility to commissioning, collaborating across disciplines to develop practical and future-focused solutions.
Responsibilities
1. Leading electrical engineering design for water and wastewater schemes
2. Providing technical guidance to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
3. Collaborating with commercial, operational, and construction teams to deliver efficient and safe solutions
4. Acting as technical reviewer and design checker across multiple projects
5. Driving innovation through standardisation, digital tools, and sustainable approaches
6. Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and statutory authorities to maintain strong relationships
7. Supporting and mentoring junior engineers to enhance team capability
8. Conducting site visits to assess constructability and system integration
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized institution
* Strong technical background in electrical design for infrastructure projects
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Collaborative and pragmatic problem-solving approach
* Willingness to travel across the South West for site visits
