Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Clerk of Works

Part of The Norse Group, N‑Able specialises in delivering property adaptations and accessibility solutions to support independent living for customers across the UK. Our mission is to keep people safe, comfortable, and confident in their homes.

We currently have an opportunity for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Clerk of Works to join our team, supporting the delivery of residential adaptation projects.

This is a full‑time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The Clerk of Works will work under the direction of the Technical Officer and will play a key role during the construction phase of adaptation projects. The role focuses on site inspection, quality assurance, contractor liaison and compliance monitoring. It does not include responsibility for technical design, specification writing, budget management, or overall case ownership.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced site‑based construction professional who is looking to develop within the adaptations/accessibility sector and DFG sector.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to:

* Carry out site inspections to monitor works against approved drawings and specifications prepared by the Technical Officer.
* Identify workmanship issues, defects, or deviations from agreed specifications and report these to the Technical Officer for review and instruction.
* Liaise with contractors to ensure works are progressing in accordance with agreed programmes and quality standards.
* Attend site meetings to provide factual progress updates.
* Review contractor method statements and risk assessments to ensure alignment with agreed works, escalating concerns where necessary.
* Monitor compliance with general Health & Safety requirements on site and report any concerns appropriately.
* Undertake snagging inspections and produce defect lists for contractor rectification.
* Verify completion of works in line with approved specifications prior to Technical Officer certification.
* Maintain accurate site records, photographs, and progress reports.
* Escalate technical queries, variations, and unforeseen site issues to the Technical Officer for formal assessment and decision‑making.
* Support customer engagement during the construction phase, referring design or technical matters to the Technical Officer.

Our Successful Candidate

We are seeking a practical and detail‑oriented construction professional with experience in site supervision, inspection, or quality monitoring within residential settings.

You will demonstrate:

* Experience overseeing or inspecting building works on site.
* A good understanding of construction methods and workmanship standards.
* Basic knowledge of Building Regulations and Health & Safety requirements relevant to domestic works.
* An awareness of accessibility adaptations or Disabled Facilities Grant processes (desirable but not essential).
* Ability to identify defects and ensure works meet agreed standards.
* Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with contractors and customers.
* A structured approach to reporting and record keeping.
* Willingness to work under the direction of a Technical Officer and to elevate technical decisions appropriately.

Alongside the opportunity to join a fantastic working team we offer;

* Salary £32,884.80
* 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
* Opportunity to gain industry qualifications and CAD training
* Stat nest pension and sickness scheme
* Access to company discounts and offers

We are committed to employment practices and behaviours which encourage diversity, promote equality of treatment and eliminate unlawful and or unfair discrimination.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy once we have received sufficient applications. If you have not been contacted within two weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application has not been successful and will not be progressed to the next stage.
