AI & Data Engineer – KTP Associate – Combined Facilities Management Ltd

Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Programme, Combined Facilities Management Limited in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast have an exciting and innovative employment opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Computer Science/Data Science/Business Analytics graduate to work on a project to embed advanced predictive analytics, real-time data integration, and AI-driven tools into facilities management to drive operational excellence, agility, and competitiveness.

This role is company-based and will be delivered in collaboration with Queen’s Business School. The successful candidate will become part of a team within Combined Facilities Management Ltd (CFM). As part of CFM’s ongoing digital transformation, they have already achieved 90% paperless operations; streamlining workflows and improving efficiency across services. Their diverse workforce includes over 350 internal multi trade/ discipline employees, supported by a supply chain of 1,500 partners, all of whom operate within the company’s digitally integrated systems.

However, digital competency across the industry varies, with some teams and subcontractors still facing challenges in adopting new technologies. This KTP project will embed AI-driven predictive analytics, real-time data integration, and process automation to further support frontline workers, enhance efficiency, compliance, and service delivery—while also supporting workforce development to ensure seamless adoption of digital tools.

Employed and supported by a team of academic experts from the University, you will be based at Combined Facilities Management,
in Magherafelt, Co. Derry/Londonderry.

As a KTP Associate, you will lead on the delivery of the following key project stages:

Stage 1: Data integration and reporting for AI-Empowered operational performance dashboard
Stage 2: Review and Enhancement of Data Governance
Stage 3: AI-empowered project planning dashboard
Stage 4: AI-empowered job tracking dashboard for maintenance services
Stage 5: Predictive maintenance services
Stage 6: Final Reporting and Academic Outputs.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

1. Hold or be about to obtain (by July 2025) a minimum 2.1 classification undergraduate degree in Data Science/AI/Computer
Science, or similar discipline.
2. Candidates with a 2.2 classification and a Masters-level degree in a relevant subject, or with substantial relevant experience, will
also be considered.
3. Relevant experience to include:
– Programming experience in data science languages such as python or R.*
– Developing business intelligence solutions using tools such as Microsoft Power BI or similar.*
– Predictive analytics and machine learning.*
– Data management, including data storage and integration.*
*may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement. Candidates should indicate how their
experience can be applied to this post.
4. Ability to think logically, create solutions and make informed decisions.
5. A high level of numeracy and the ability to interpret data.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Ability to plan workload and prioritise tasks as required.
8. Good oral, written and presentation skills.
9. High level of IT skills.
10. The successful candidate must be able to communicate technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.
11. Self-motivated, capable of working independently, with a drive and ambition to succeed.Ability to work effectively as a member
of a group.
12. Enthusiasm for research/project area.
13. Well organised, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
14. An interest in staying with the Company (Associates are normally invited to apply for permanent positions).
15. Ability to take part in Associate management courses (requiring two one-week periods in England).
16. Willing/able to travel throughout the UK and Ireland and abroad as necessary.
17. Ability to attend work place (Combined Facilities Management, Magherafelt) and other work locations as required.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

1. Hold a postgraduate degree in Data Science/Computer Science/AI or closely related discipline.
2. Relevant experience in the development of solutions incorporating generative AI / large language models / natural language
processing or similar technologies.
3. Relevant experience in process mapping/requirements gathering.
4. Significant relevant industry experience in facilities management, construction, or logistics.
5. Significant experience working with large-scale, real-time operational data.
6. Proficiency in cloud-based analytics platforms.
7. Relevant experience of working across multiple teams/departments.
8. Relevant experience supporting digital transformation within an organisation.
9. Ability to engage stakeholders across different departments, ensuring successful adoption of new AI-driven tools.
10. Understanding of the industry area.
11. Ability to deliver training and follow-up support to colleagues.
12. Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights through dashboards, reports, and executive summaries.
13. Ability to influence people effectively.
14. Tenacious and committed to achieving goals.
