To provide and maintain a high standard of nursingcare for patients, as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors andother members of the primary healthcare team.The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experiencedRGN and any additional roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors asappropriate, having regard to current training.

We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious registered nurse to join our nursing team.
The ideal candidate will already have prior experience of working in general practice nursing and will be familiar with primary care in the NHS however, applicants from other nursing backgrounds will also be considered.
Key responsibilities and duties will include:
Long term health management ideally with additional training in diabetes and respiratory conditions
Childhood immunisations
Adult immunisations
Cervical screening smear tests
Wound care and management
Contraception reviews
Travel health advice and vaccinations

1. Long term conditions and chronic disease management
2. Experience in management of diabetes is desirable. Warwick Diabetes Management course would be a requirement to undertake this role. The practice will be happy to support development in this area if needed
3. COPD and asthma annual review and management is desirable. An ability of perform and interpret spirometry is needed and adequate training will be provided if needed.
4. Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions
5. Running well person clinics and health promotion programmes, facilitating change by providing holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise
6. Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minor illness.
7. Able to document Consultations according to NMC guidelines
8. Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
9. Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for ear irrigation.
10. Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests.
11. Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines
12. Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines

14. Take ECGs
15. Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines
16. Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines
17. Assist in the provision of minor surgery
18. Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written)
19. Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained
20. Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection
21. Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration, sterilizer, and emergency equipment
