Sandwell Children’s Trust

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape Sandwell’s Children with Disabilities service, improving outcomes for children and young people with disabilities and their families at a time of significant national reform.


Position

Service Manager – Children with Disabilities and Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO)

Salary: £60,194 - £63,832 per annum plus excellent benefits. Hybrid Working – full time 37 hours per week.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide leadership and supervision to the CwDT Team Manager.
* Lead the service through ongoing SEND and Family Help reforms, embedding best practice and continuous improvement.
* Act as the Designated Social Care Officer, ensuring statutory social care responsibilities within the SEND Code of Practice are met.
* Strengthen multi‑agency collaboration across education, health, adult social care, and the voluntary sector.
* Champion high‑quality, child‑centred and strengths‑based practice for children with disabilities and their families.
* Provide expert advice and influence on SEND, EHCPs, and the role of social care within multi‑agency planning.
* Monitor performance and quality, ensuring effective safeguarding and positive outcomes.
* Contribute to the Trust’s strategic priorities, ethos, and values.


About you

* A qualified and registered Social Worker with substantial leadership experience in children’s social care.
* Significant experience working with children with disabilities and a strong understanding of SEND frameworks and EHCP processes.
* An inspirational leader with the ability to motivate, develop, and support teams through change.
* Confident in multi‑agency working, with the ability to influence partners at a strategic level.
* Knowledgeable about national SEND and Family Help reforms and their impact on service delivery.
* Skilled in performance, quality, and resource management, with a commitment to excellent outcomes for children and families.
