What will you be doing? We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer (PE) or Lead Commissioning Engineer (LCE) to support the National Grid OPTEL Gen 3 replacement programme, primarily within the survey team. The role involves weekly nationwide travel as part of a multi-discipline survey team. Working on Critical National Infrastructure projects, you will provide technical assurance across delivery, supporting the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager. The role focuses on undertaking and coordinating detailed site surveys, ensuring accurate site data is captured, analysed and communicated to inform design, build planning, risk management and safe delivery. Post-survey, the role includes project engineering activities such as BoM creation, inspections, quality documentation, technical coordination and stakeholder engagement. What youll bring? You will be an experienced Project Engineer with strong detailed survey knowledge and a networking technical background, specialising in circuit delivery, equipment ordering, and services and solutions delivery. You will understand CWDM, DWDM, SDH, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS-TP, SYNC and OTDR, alongside telecoms DC power principles, fibre installation and testing, and multi-protocol testing. You will take a proactive approach to managing tasks and issues, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and ideally have experience in Critical National Infrastructure, design assurance, regulatory engagement, or technical governance.
