Tenancy Relations Officer – 2 Years Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity
This role focuses on preventing homelessness among private‑sector households, supporting new housing solutions and ensuring compliance with Renters Rights legislation. The officer works with tenants, landlords and enforcement teams to uphold tenant protections.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a robust tenancy relations service to a diverse range of private‑sector stakeholders, engaging proactively with tenants and landlords and responding to enquiries, complaints, and correspondence.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of housing needs in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and other relevant legislation.
* Undertake investigations and enforcement action including prosecutions, civil penalties and court applications.
* Maintain expert housing legislation knowledge, collaborate on policy delivery with Housing Strategy and prevent homelessness by mediating disputes and protecting tenants.
Key Knowledge And Skills
* High level knowledge of the private rented sector and the issues relating to the acquisition of accommodation, including security of tenure, health and safety, housing standards and housing benefit regulations.
* Strong grasp of housing needs, legislation and case law.
* Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act and private sector discharge duties.
* Proven ability to investigate breaches and write enforcement reports.
* Strong communication, analysis and decision‑making skills.
