We are looking for a proactive team member who is passionate about working in the industry and delivering high quality gardens and outdoor spaces, with meticulous attention to detail.
The successful candidate will support our manager on site, often completing tasks independently as part of a wider team and helping to train junior operatives. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects including show gardens and residential gardens. This role will suit someone that embraces a challenging but rewarding job, loves working in the great outdoors and being part of an enthusiastic team.
Duties of the Post
* Undertake a range of groundworks tasks on site as directed by Operations Manager including porcelain, sandstone, drainage, kerbing, blocking, flagging, tarmacing, brickwork, mixing concrete, moving materials and equipment, cleaning up and making good sites each day
* Ability to understand and implement a sequence of works, from beginning to completion of each job.
* Capable of organising workload of on-site team.
* Willingness to train apprentices to company standards.
* Have meticulous attention to detail.
* Manage materials on-site as per bill quantities.
* Ability to manage day-to-day tasks in line with site programme.
* Willingness to work in the great Scottish weather.
* To undertake routine maintenance of tools and equipment, completing all relevant log sheets.
* To ensure that security protocols are followed to ensure that tools and equipment are stored securely and safely at all times when not in use.
* To ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with all statutory health and safety requirements, our Health and Safety Policy and that of our clients
* To wear correct PPE for all tasks
* To follow all risk and COSHH assessments and instructions provided in tool box talks
* To organise materials and equipment, tidy and maintain site as required
* Any other duties that may reasonably be requested by the Manager

Education / Training
Essential
* Educated to 'O' Level / GCSE or equivalent
* Full drivers licence
* 360deg tracked excavator trained
Desirable
* Cat and Gennie
* Abrasive wheel trained
* Dumper trained
* Roller trained
* Current CSCS card
Experience / Knowledge
Essential
* Experienced at completing groundwork tasks including laying porcelain and sandstone, monoblock, kerbstones, drainage, concrete work
* Have meticulous attention to detail.
* Practical experience of working on residential sites
* Knowledge of site-based health and safety systems
* Experienced in using range of hand tools
* Experienced in using a rotating laser
* Understand architect and engineering drawings
