Overview
Lecturer - Doctorate in Educational Psychology (Maternity cover) – The School of Psychology at Cardiff University invites applications from an Educational Psychologist to provide professional teaching to Trainee Educational Psychologists and contribute to all aspects of the DEdPsy Programme delivery.
Responsibilities
* Independently contribute to module and curriculum development and lead modules at postgraduate levels, inspiring students.
* Supervise the work of trainee educational psychologists on the DEdPsy programme.
* Provide professional supervision for trainee educational psychologists while they are in university and engaged in fieldwork placements.
* Supply pastoral care through acting as a Personal Tutor and providing support and guidance to students, building and establishing trust.
* Undertake teaching input to trainees on areas covered by the DEdPsy programme, and may include teaching within the wider School of Psychology. Organise and participate in curriculum events such as mini conferences and carry out tutor duties, including supervising trainees and assessing their academic work.
* Take on a role as an internal and external examiner for the programme.
Qualifications
* Essential: Postgraduate professional qualification at Masters or DedPsy level.
* Essential: A minimum of two years of practicing as a qualified, HCPC registered educational psychologist within a local authority in the UK.
* Essential: Eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Essential: Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK.
* Essential: Currently employed as a practising educational psychologist for a local authority.
Desirable: Relevant professional qualification(s); knowledge and understanding of the Welsh education context and experience of practice in Wales; ability to work through the medium of Welsh.
Salary and Terms
* Salary: between Soulbury Scale B points 1-7, £48,727 - £58,210 per annum, pro-rata for hours worked.
* Contract: part-time 0.4 FTE (14 hours per week), fixed term until 30 June 2026 (maternity cover). The position is available immediately.
