Job Description
This role is primarily based at Gloucester Police HQ and Shepherds Road Fire & Rescue site. You’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership and delivery of Hard FM services on a complex, operational site. This isn’t about firefighting for the sake of it. It’s about taking ownership of planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring statutory compliance is robust, visible and audit‑ready, leading engineers and specialist subcontractors with clarity and confidence, supporting lifecycle and project activity so assets remain fit for purpose, and acting as a trusted deputy to the Contract Manager when required.
Responsibilities
* Own and manage the maintenance and compliance programme, ensuring safety and performance are never compromised.
* Lead and develop the on‑site engineering team, setting clear expectations and standards.
* Manage M&E subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, compliantly and to specification.
* Support the delivery of lifecycle and project works from planning through to completion.
* Carry out internal audits against M&E, statutory and SFG20 standards.
* Be a visible, credible technical lead on site.
Qualifications
Essential
* Strong experience in Hard FM / maintenance management at management level.
* Hands‑on knowledge of statutory compliance, including fire and water regulations.
* Experience working to SFG20 standards.
* Understanding of lifecycle and project delivery in a live environment.
* Working knowledge of BMS systems.
* Confidence leading engineers and managing specialist subcontractors.
Desirable
* A recognised technical qualification.
* Experience within PFI or similarly complex contracts.
