Band 8c Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist to join our neuropsychology and rehabilitation services based at Moseley Hall Hospital in Birmingham. The post supports Level 1 Inpatient Neurorehabilitation, Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation, Community and Outpatient rehabilitation services, and a specialist vocational rehabilitation pathway. The postholder will work with the Divisional Lead Consultant Psychologist and colleagues to ensure governance and development of neuropsychology services across inpatients, outpatients and community settings. Leadership, supervision and management are key alongside provision of clinical services.
Overview
The successful applicant will have extensive experience in Neuropsychology, completed training eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register for Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN), and demonstrable strategic leadership experience at Consultant level.
Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality specialist neuropsychological services to people with specialist rehabilitation needs across all sectors of care within the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust catchment area.
* Supervise and support psychological and neuropsychological assessment, therapy and interventions delivered by other psychologists and clinical team members.
* Support clinical, professional and strategic governance for ASR Neuropsychology services in collaboration with the Divisional Lead Consultant Psychologist.
* Exercise responsibility for governance of psychological practice within the service; contribute to audit, policy, service development and research.
* Propose and implement policy and service changes to enhance availability and accessibility of psychologically informed clinical practice; design, implement and evaluate clinical governance and service initiatives.
* Deliver direct clinical services to clients, families and carers; provide outreach, consultation, training and clinical supervision to support planning and development of a multidisciplinary psychology service.
* Ensure service meets objectives, contracting and commissioner requirements (e.g., UKROC statistics) and work with commissioners and partners to sustain and enhance the service.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate Doctoral Level training in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent)
* Registered with the HCPC
* Eligible for inclusion on the BPS Specialist Register in Clinical Neuropsychology
Experience
* Extensive post-qualification experience in highly specialist assessment and treatment of patients presenting with rehabilitation needs
* Extensive clinical experience in Neuropsychology Services
* Experience of service development in a multidisciplinary context
* Clinical research and/or staff consultancy, teaching and support roles
* Supervision of qualified/assistant/trainee psychologists
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care within an MDT
