Overview
Devonport Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Programme. Costain are providing expertise to support a large infrastructure upgrade programme at Devonport Royal Dockyard, contributing towards meeting the MOD’s future long-term requirements for warship and submarine programmes. We are seeking a Buildings Package Manager to support enabling works with potential to grow into a future role on main construction works. This role is primarily on site and requires eligibility for security clearance.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the procurement and selection of required contractors to complete the work scopes.
* Assist the Senior Agent with management of the appointed contractors, developing work methods, identifying and developing supporting temporary works, and coordinating with key stakeholders.
* Develop programmes and forecast budgets, monitor actual programme and productivity, review weekly, and report changes to the Senior Agent and QS department as appropriate.
* Assist the Senior Agent with management of subcontractors’ conditions, development of job-specific subcontract conditions, and management of subcontractors’ accounts with the QS team.
* Ensure inspection and test plans, risk assessments, method statements, permitting arrangements and temporary works requirements are reviewed, approved, and followed.
* Provide intelligent oversight of works and site activities; raise relevant documentation such as TQs, RFIs, NCRs where required.
* Coordinate and liaise with relevant site teams and functions to enable the works, including cross-functional departments.
* Assist with production of monthly reports for financial forecasting, monitoring and control of project cost.
* Provide visible leadership on health and safety aspects.
* Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies and ensure requirements are implemented on the project.
Qualifications
Essential
* Experience at a similar level on a major project or in a highly regulated environment.
* Experience of managing subcontract packages.
* Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
* IT competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).
Desirable
* Experience of civils and/or construction works.
* Experience working in a nuclear environment.
* NEC3/4 contract experience.
* Microsoft Project/Primavera P6 experience.
Essential Qualifications
* Degree level/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and vocational training in Engineering.
* Relevant CSCS Card.
* Training in Health & Safety and Environmental Management.
Desirable Qualifications
* Member of relevant professional institution (ICE, CIOB etc.).
* SMSTS/IOSH.
