Quality Lab Technician
Job Details
Location: Aycliffe
Contract Type: 3‑month contract initially
Hours: 39 hours per week
Work Pattern: 3‑shift rotation
Shift Times: 2:00pm – 10:00pm (required for this role; candidate must also commit to other shifts), 10:00pm – 6:00am, 6:00am – 2:00pm
Onsite Requirement: 5 days per week
Pay Rate: £14.38 per hour, £3.37 per hour shift allowance
Equipment / PPE Requirements
* Safety shoes (worker to provide)
* Safety glasses (provided on site)
* Bump cap (provided on site)
Key Responsibilities
* Adhering to all site EHS policies and site requirements
* Operating quality testing equipment and testing systems
* Carrying out quality testing on site and offsite manufactured products
* Controlling shipping release to meet deadlines
* Ensuring prompt communication of non‑conformances to relevant manufacturing areas
* Demonstrating strong IT skills and understanding
* Maintaining excellent attention to detail and ability to analyse and understand data
Required Skills & Experience
* Previous quality experience or laboratory background
* Knowledge of SPC / SAP / DPQX
* Knowledge of Product RSFs and quality standards
* EHS‑conscious with engagement in behavioural safety programmes (e.g. SEE & ACT)
* Understanding and application of continuous improvement and root cause analysis techniques
* Competent IT skills, including working knowledge of:
o Microsoft Office (Outlook)
o e‑Matrix
o SAP
* Competent in report writing
* Strong organisational skills and ability to chase progress
* Mathematically competent
* Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation
* Familiarity with, and understanding of, test equipment
* Able to work independently, showing initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team
* Quality department and shift‑working experience preferred
Education
Working towards a quality qualification or higher education
