Role summary - Year 1 Teacher
The Year 1 Teacher will lead systematic phonics, guided reading and sequenced writing as the Year 1 Teacher; teach engaging early mathematics and build number sense as the Year 1 Teacher; design continuous provision and scaffold independence as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will set assessment targets, run short interventions and contribute to transition planning into Year 2. The Year 1 Teacher will prepare planning ahead of January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026.
Day-to-day expectations for the Year 1 Teacher
Mornings: the Year 1 Teacher leads phonics and guided reading sessions that develop fluency and vocabulary. Afternoons: the Year 1 Teacher delivers creative topic work and practical maths. The Year 1 Teacher will communicate progress to families, run parent workshops and help moderate standards in the phase — all activities starting in preparation before January 2026 and continuing after January 2026.
Candidate essentials - Year 1 Teacher
We are seeking a Year 1 Teacher with QTS, confident early years/KS1 practice and an ability to inspire young learners.
