The recipe!
The primary focus of this role is to execute the Microbiological testing program, delivering precise, timely, and reliable results that empower essential business decisions and uphold the safety and quality of our food products. Additionally, you'll play a key role in fostering ongoing improvements within relevant sectors, aiding in problem-solving initiatives for the business, and contributing to the development of new products.
Conduct various Microbiology tests, interpreting results with scientific knowledge and risk assessment.
Follow safety and housekeeping protocols, promptly reporting any hazards.
Assist in internal audits and laboratory accreditation.
Validate, troubleshoot, and monitor lab methods and equipment performance; train team members as needed.
Coordinate external testing as necessary.
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of analytical equipment.
Act as deputy for Lab Manager or Lab Analyst, supporting scientific risk assessments.
Requirements
Non-negotiables:
Ideally, Biology, A level or equivalent, and/or a science-related degree or relevant laboratory experience
Microbiology or Chemistry professional experience
An understanding of basic statistics and ISO 17025 accreditation
Technical Microbiology testing skills including PCR is beneficial
Great planning, organisational, time-management and communication skills you will have the ability to make decisions and understand the impact and urgency of them
Alignment to Weetabix values
Are always curious to finding new ways to do business!
Have the ability to demonstrate how you keep up to date in your field of expertise
Nice to haves:
Laboratory experience including exposure with ISO 17025 accreditation and a laboratory information management system (LIMS) would be beneficial
