Salary: £19,000 – £19,700 per annum
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such as a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
About the Role:
Teach-Now is working in partnership with a specialist secondary setting in Broxbourne that supports pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism, communication needs, and associated sensory and behavioural needs.
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a highly structured, nurturing and therapeutic environment where learning is personalised and every small step of progress is celebrated.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting pupils across Key Stages 3–5 to access a highly differentiated curriculum, develop communication skills, build independence, and regulate their emotions in a safe and supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Pupils with Complex Needs
• Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SLD and ASC.
• Support pupils in working towards their EHCP outcomes and personalised targets.
• Use visual timetables and communication systems such as PECS, Makaton or other AAC methods.
• Implement sensory strategies and support emotional regulation.
• Assist with personal and intimate care where required, maintaining dignity at all times.
Supporting Learning
• Work under the direction of the class teacher to deliver adapted, highly differentiated activities.
• Reinforce learning through modelling, repetition and practical approaches.
• Support the development of functional literacy, numeracy and life skills.
• Encourage independence, resilience and confidence.
Behaviour & Teamwork
• Follow positive behaviour support plans and maintain a calm, consistent approach.
• Promote positive social interaction and communication.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
• Contribute to observations, progress monitoring and review meetings.
Person Specification:
Qualifications
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
Experience
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly autism or severe learning difficulties.
• Experience supporting communication and sensory needs (desirable).
Personal Qualities

• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
