Are you an experienced and passionate Teaching Assistant ready to make a genuine impact in a specialist educational setting?
A specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Huyton is seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team, supporting Key Stage 2 students. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong relationship-building skills, emotional resilience, and a proactive attitude to support learners with complex needs.
You'll be part of a caring and close-knit team, working to help young people develop their academic ability and emotional resilience, while contributing to a safe and structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide academic and emotional support to KS2 students with SEMH needs
Adapt and deliver lesson content under the guidance of teaching staff
Build positive and trusting relationships with students to support engagement and achievement
Manage small group sessions independently, tailoring activities to student needs
Use de-escalation strategies and maintain high standards of behaviour
Identify behavioural triggers and support students in managing emotions and routines
Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other professionals to deliver holistic support
Contribute to the creation of individual behaviour and learning plans
What We're Looking For:
✅ Essential Qualifications:
A relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in education or child development✅ Essential Experience:
Experience identifying and supporting pupils requiring extra help
Ability to contribute to the development of personalised learning/behavioural plans
Excellent written and verbal communication skills✅ Desirable Experience:
Experience working alongside professionals and families to deliver joined-up support
A background in working with parents/carers to support progress, attendance or behaviour
