Job Description Summary
Locations: Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, Halifax
Salary: £90,440 - 106,400
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Working pattern: Hybrid, at least two days per week (40%) in office
What You'll Do
* Lead the definition and delivery of technology strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders and the Architecture Lead.
* Set and maintain architecture roadmaps, guardrails, and patterns, ensuring alignment with business and technology goals.
* Provide strategic oversight and governance for major transformation initiatives.
* Mentor and develop a team of architects, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Represent architecture in executive forums, influencing decision‑making at the highest levels.
* Build and maintain strong relationships across business, engineering and technology teams.
* Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative thinking to the organisation.
* Champion agile ways of working and support iterative delivery.
What You'll Need
Architecture & Technology
* Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.)
* Strategic experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), hybrid hosting and modern architectures
* Strong background in API design, microservices, modular applications and data strategies (ETL, modelling, governance)
* Knowledge of cybersecurity, technology sustainability and digital transformation in complex environments
* Experience in payments, retail banking and large‑scale change
Leadership & Strategic Influence
* Proven ability to set architectural vision and influence at senior levels
* Experience leading and mentoring architecture teams
* Strong track record of driving technology strategy and transformation
Collaboration & Communication
* Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to engage and influence executive stakeholders
* Ability to build trusted relationships across engineering, product and business teams
Continuous Improvement
* Commitment to continuous learning and staying ahead of technology trends
* Passion for driving process improvements and embedding best practices
