The opportunity
An exciting opportunity to work in EY’s Global Grants Credits & Incentives team based in our central London office, alongside other STEM professionals, as well as tax and accounting colleagues.
As a Senior Consultant, you will work with a variety of clients from owner-managed businesses to multinational groups, who are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technology, helping the UK stay as a market leader by encouraging R&D investment.
You will be part of a diverse team of industry and tax specialists, leading interviews with senior technical personnel at clients across various industries to identify qualifying R&D activities. You will write and review reports on clients’ R&D projects and engage in extensive client communication.
You will also support business development and cross-sector claims.
Your key responsibilities
* Collaborate effectively within project teams, demonstrating strong communication skills.
* Write and review technical reports highlighting scientific and technical aspects of client projects for R&D tax claims.
* Lead interactions with clients' senior staff to understand projects and identify R&D qualifying aspects.
* Analyze data and perform calculations to quantify project expenditures.
* Apply advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high service levels.
* Deliver high-quality advice and solutions, managing risks and reputation.
* Adapt and expand knowledge across sectors to enhance capabilities.

To qualify for the role, you must have
* Degree in science, veterinary, life sciences, or related clinical fields.
* At least 2 years of industry experience.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach.
* Flexibility to learn and adapt quickly.
Ideally, you’ll also have
* Previous R&D tax experience (not required but advantageous).
