At Lyttelton House School, located in the heart of Andover, Hampshire, we are looking for a dedicated Tutor to join our vibrant community. With a capacity for up to 60 pupils aged 5 to 16 years, we provide a safe and supportive environment for children with complex needs.

About Us

For over 30 years, we have been committed to improving the lives of young people. As part of the Polaris Community, which includes fifteen SEN schools across the UK, we focus on delivering tailored, diverse, and appropriate education. We are proud to have achieved a 100% rating of Good or Outstanding from Ofsted!

Your Role

As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' personal and academic development. Your responsibilities will include:

* Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
* Collaborating with the Education Team to remove barriers to learning.
* Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
* Delivering engaging enrichment activities during 'Golden Time'.
* Providing in-class support for academic, pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
* Responding to immediate concerns and resolving situations appropriately.
* Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
* Acting as an advocate for the ethos of Lyttelton House School.
* Leading on Reading and Phonics, reviewing student progress.
* Developing the role of Pupil Voice and liaising with the Senior Leadership Team.
* Building strong relationships with parents/carers during transitions and consultations.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

* A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA) and working with pupils with SEMH.
* Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in specific areas (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga).
* Experience in behaviour management techniques.
* A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.

What We Offer

We believe in valuing the emotional health and wellbeing of our staff. Here’s what you can expect:

* A supportive workplace that prioritizes your wellbeing.
* A commitment to your professional development through diverse opportunities.
* The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
* A friendly and inclusive team dedicated to improving outcomes.

Join us in creating a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and empowered. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, which will be covered by Polaris Community.

We are an equal opportunities employer and encourage applications from all qualified candidates. Together, let’s safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults!
