About the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce
The Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce (EBCC) is a dynamic organisation dedicated to strengthening trade and investment ties between the UK and Egypt. We work closely with businesses, governments, and key stakeholders to deliver meaningful impact through trade support, events, legalisation services, and thought leadership.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber. This pivotal role will support the Chairman in delivering the Chamber’s strategic objectives, with particular focus on event delivery, financial processes, stakeholder engagement, and departmental management.
Key Responsibilities
Event & Webinar Management
· Plan, coordinate, and manage high-profile business events and webinars using Microsoft Teams.
· Oversee all logistical elements of events, including venues, schedules, invitations, and speaker arrangements.
· Work closely with the Chairman to develop event themes and ensure strategic alignment with Chamber objectives.
· Support the preparation of board reports and papers related to events.
Outsourced Consultant Oversight
Manage relationships with outsourced consultants, including:
· Systems Consultant: Ensure smooth operation and development of internal systems.
· Design Consultant: Oversee branding and design for digital and print assets.
Financial Operations
Manage daily, monthly, and ad hoc financial tasks, including:
· Sending statements to the Legalisation Department.
· Preparing monthly management reports (working with outsourced accountants).
· Setting up and monitoring payments through Barclays.
· Managing HMRC VAT submissions and payments.
· Transferring funds from Stripe to the main bank account.
Legalisation Department Oversight
Provide strategic and operational oversight to the Legalisation Department.
· Ensure daily processes are executed efficiently and accurately.
· Maintain quality control and service standards for document legalisation services.
Key Relationship Management
· Act as a liaison and maintain strong working relationships with:
· The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).
· The Egyptian Consulate in London (in collaboration with board members).
· The UK and Egyptian Embassies.
Team Leadership & Office Management
· Oversee day-to-day management of Chamber operations and staff.
· Conduct team appraisals and support staff development.
· Ensure smooth internal coordination and effective communication across departments.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a resourceful and detail-oriented professional with strong organisational, financial, and interpersonal skills. Experience in international trade, event management, or chamber operations would be highly advantageous.
Key Skills & Attributes
· Strong project management and multitasking capabilities
· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
· Event management experience, including logistics and virtual delivery
· Financial literacy and comfort with banking platforms (e.g., Barclays, Stripe)
· Experience using Microsoft Teams and other digital platforms
· Ability to manage consultants and cross-functional teams
· Knowledge of UK-Egypt trade relations is a plus
