What's involved with this role: Job Title: Senior Skilled Vehicle & Plant Technician Ref: Stoke 5249725 Pay rate: £25.00 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Hours per week, Monday to Friday Role length: Anticipated 2 - 3 months Working Arrangement: On-site Additional requirements: Must have an LGV category C Driving Licence and ideally category CE Driving Licence The role: A skilled Vehicle & Plant Technician is required to work mainly on Plant vehicles and machinery from ride on mowers to JCB loaders also including trailer repairs. A sound knowledge of working on different types of agricultural vehicles and machinery is essential for this role. Please note that shift working applies to this role on a weekly basis: 06:30-14:30 Mon-Thurs 06:30-14:00 Friday 08:00-16:00 Mon-Thurs 08:00-15:30 Friday Key Responsibilities: Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with the laid down manufacturers specification, including fault finding and diagnostic testing to motor vehicles, contractors plant and grounds machinery powered by gas, diesel oil, petrol or electricity together with associated equipment Carry out MOT testing (class 4, 5 and 7) Carry out repairs including fault finding and diagnostic testing to vehicle/plant electrics, hydraulics and pneumatics, especially those fitted to specialist vehicles such as refuse, road sweeper’s, gully vehicles and buses Carry out repairs and modifications to vehicle bodywork, including general panel beating, engineering fabrication, design, redesign and installation Complete general welding (gas, arc) brazing and soldering as necessary Complete repairs using machine shop tools and equipment including general bench work To carry out vehicle safety inspections, in accordance with the Vehicle Inspectorate standards and guidelines and to complete all relevant documentation accurately To prepare vehicles for, and drive to the Vehicle Inspectorate Test Station for Plating and Testing and to carry out minor adjustments which may be identified on this inspection as required To attend to vehicle/plant and equipment breakdowns, and effect roadside repairs or recovery to the Transport Workshops or Repair Agents, as directed by a Team Leader, Supervisor or his delegate What the client is looking for: An LGV category C Driving Licence and ideally category CE Driving Licence Hold a relevant qualification in Plant Motor Vehicle Technology equivalent to NVQ level 2/3 Hold a VOSA recognised Certificate for Large Goods Vehicle Safety/Roadworthiness Inspections Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of M.O.T. Testing, standards and procedures and be a qualified MOT inspector or actively in training as an MOT Inspector A good knowledge and experience of working on different types of agricultural vehicles and machinery, the role is mainly for Plant vehicles and machinery from ride on mowers to JCB loaders also including trailer repairs Demonstrate some experience of Supervising, motivating and controlling employees within the post holders remit Demonstrate a technical knowledge of vehicle/plant and equipment design and specifications Should have some basic IT skills that can be developed and the ability to use pre-designed programmes on computing and associated equipment as a tool in the provision of the Vehicle and Plant Maintenance Service and the management of the Workshops Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of all Health & Safety Legislation and City Council Policy, and to ensure adherence to a safe working environment and safe working practices How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
