Job Overview

Health Care Support Worker – Full time, 37.5 hrs per week, fixed term for 6 months to cover the needs of the service. This role is for the Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services at Annwylfan Ward, Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly.

Shift patterns involve working 7 days a week on a shift pattern of 12‑hour day and 12‑hour night shifts. The post is a fixed term/secondment for 6 months; if you are interested in applying, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Annwylfan is a 16‑bed Older Adult Mental Health Dementia Assessment ward in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.

You will need to demonstrate a commitment to delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with patients, carers and other professionals. You must be an excellent team player, have high levels of motivation and enthusiasm for working in a demanding but rewarding service.

The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly to meet rotational shift patterns covering a 24‑hour period.

Have an interest in older adult inpatient care and enjoy working in a busy, challenging environment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications


Essential criteria

* NVQ Level 2 in health and social care or equivalent

* Educated to GCSE A-C in core subjects
