Your Role
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Consultant to support a major Defence client in delivering a robust, model-based manufacturing capability.
This role focuses on Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) and the creation of a connected digital thread across engineering, planning, and manufacturing execution. You will act as a subject matter expert in MBOM, process planning, and enterprise system integration (Teamcenter/SAP), ensuring manufacturing data is accurate, structured, and execution-ready.
Key Responsibilities
Drawing on your extensive knowledge of Computer Aided Process Planning methodologies, you will design and implement robust BOM and Manufacturing Process planning structures within PLM Teamcenter and SAP environments. This includes developing complex data models that support manufacturing operations while maintaining alignment with engineering design data. You will:
- Define and manage Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) and process planning structures within Teamcenter and SAP
- Develop and sequence manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment to engineering design, tooling, and material flow
- Establish and maintain data models linking EBOM, MBOM, and process plans, ensuring full traceability across the digital thread
- Own configuration control and change management for manufacturing planning data across enterprise systems
- Drive the implementation of digital process planning standards, governance, and best practice
- Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and IT to ensure planning data supports shop-floor execution and MES consumption
Your profile
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise and strategic vision, with:
· Demonstrable consultancy experience to be able to help the client to identify, articulate and solve key strategic problems.
· Problem-solving capabilities with the ability to provide innovative manufacturing solutions at an enterprise scale while managing technical risk
· Extensive experience conducting manufacturing systems gap analysis, developing strategic improvement plans, and leading implementation initiatives.
· Proven expertise in Teamcenter Manufacturing / PLM and integration with SAP
· Expertise in Computer Aided Process Planning and BOM management at an enterprise level, including data structure design, process flow optimization, and system integration.
· Deep understanding of MBOM creation, process structures, and manufacturing data modelling
· Expertise in Model-Based Engineering / Digital Thread concepts and their application in manufacturing. Demonstrated expertise in Model Based Manufacturing methodologies and implementation.
· Understanding of Aerospace and Defence (or adjacent) industry manufacturing requirements, compliance considerations, and security protocols.
· High-level communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical recommendations to client leadership and influence strategic decision-making.
Additional Strengths (Desirable)
· Experience supporting MES or shop-floor digital execution systems
· Exposure to NX or CAD/CAM environments (contextual understanding rather than core focus)
· Consultancy experience, including stakeholder engagement and process improvement delivery
This is a hybrid role, with travel expected between client and Capgemini sites as well as home working. Candidates must be Sole UK Nationals and either hold or be able to obtain MOD SC clearance.
