Job Overview
We are delighted to invite applications for a senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist for Salford adult inpatient services based at Meadowbrook Unit. Following significant investment in inpatient Psychology provision trust-wide, we are recruiting a full-time 8a or band 7-8a preceptorship Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. We are pleased to be able to offer these posts to individuals already working in an 8a capacity or those who are seeking development opportunities from a band 7-8a (on achievement of agreed competencies). We are happy to accept applications from Trainee Clinical Psychologists who are due to qualify in 2024.
Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will find every day exciting. Your role will be varied and stimulating and will include a mix of direct and indirect work. You will support the teams to develop formulations to support care, contribute to staff training and supervision of delivery of brief psychological interventions. Direct work will include psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions, both on a one-to-one basis and group format. As part of the clinical team on the wards you will work with ward managers, occupational therapists, nurses and doctors to ensure that inpatient admissions are therapeutic and support each persons recovery. You will supervise the work of the units Assistant Psychologists in delivering group and structured individual sessions.

Working as part of the psychology team and broader MDT, the postholder will provide a clinical psychology service to the 3 adult acute wards and 1 psychiatric intensive care unit in Salford. You will be well supported by and work closely with the services principal inpatient Clinical Psychologist, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Psychologists to deliver the highest quality clinical psychology service to the inpatient wards where you will be based. Each ward is staffed by a full multidisciplinary team who always put service user care at the heart of their practice and work on a model of trauma-informed, least restrictive practice. You will work with them to ensure that the psychological needs of service users and staff are understood and met.
The focus on principles of trauma-informed care and continuous innovation makes Meadowbrook an attractive and exciting service to work with, rich with opportunity to contribute to service development. There would be opportunity to be involved in Quality Improvement and pathway development projects. The unit has a strong focus on staff wellbeing, prioritising supervision, training and peer support through well-being groups for individuals with protected characteristics. Education And Qualifications
Essential criteria
Post-graduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology, (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), as accredited by the BPS.
Eligibility to register as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Desirable criteria
Further post-qualification training in a specific therapeutic modality
Completion of clinical supervisor training as provided by a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training course
Experience
Essential criteria
Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of those with psychological difficulties across a full range of care settings
Experience of working with moderate to severe mental health problems
Experience in risk assessment, formulation and management of risk.
Experience of working within and contributing to a multi-disciplinary team including working in an indirect capacity to support MDT and multiagency working and care provision.
