Join to apply for the Bank Prison Services Pharmacy Technician - HMP Portland role at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.
Oxleas NHS Trust was awarded the South West prison contract in 2022 and manages healthcare services across 19 prisons in the South of England. We are expanding our pool of bank workers by recruiting Pharmacy Technicians to work within the Prison service on a flexible basis.
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will provide medicines management services to patients within the prison, under the supervision of a prison service pharmacist. Responsibilities include administering medicines against prescriptions, advising patients on medicine use, and promoting healthy lifestyles for rehabilitation. You will dispense prescriptions, supervise dispensary assistants, and manage stock control, including stock top-ups and expiry date reviews.
Our healthcare team aims to promote health and well-being among prisoners, supporting their rehabilitation and resettlement into the community. We deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy, and Clinical Substance Misuse services within an integrated healthcare model.
Working in offender healthcare offers a rewarding and varied role, with opportunities for professional development and progression. Here’s what one of our Pharmacy Techs, Amanda, says:
"I really enjoy working in the Pharmacy Service for Oxleas. My role is varied, and I work within a supportive team. It's rewarding to enable patient rehabilitation and build relationships with patients daily. Oxleas supports qualifications and training, allowing career progression."
