The Home: Slemish Nursing Home was built over 35 years ago and is located at the edge of Ballymena with a short walking distance to local churches and shops. Our care team has a long-standing reputation in the Ballymena area for delivering excellent Nursing Care in a homely, friendly, professional environment, led by a manager with over 20 years of experience in the care home sector. We are dedicated to providing Palliative, End of Life, and Physical Disability Care, and this is recognised throughout our local area. Bed capacity is currently 37 and will extend to 63 beds on completion of our extension next month. We welcome families and friends through our Open House policy so they can visit anytime and experience a feeling of home.
The Role
You will provide high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported. As part of our frontline team, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of residents. As a Care Assistant, you will also provide emotional support and companionship, fostering meaningful relationships and advocating for the rights and preferences of residents.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
* Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, helping them maintain a good quality of life.
* Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
* Assist with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
* Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents' well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
* Follow care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.
* Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for residents.

* A good standard of oral and written English.

* Respectful of the values and beliefs of other team members.
Desired Criteria
* Educated to QCF/NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but not essential.
* Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
