A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Operations Controller on a 12-month FTC to join a specialist manufacturing business operating internationally. Our client offers a warm and friendly working environment, 33 days holiday and pension scheme. The Operational Controller supports the business by providing accurate and timely financial information and analysis to support all business decisions. You will support the Group Controlling manager and UK operational management team by taking responsibility for the local managerial P&L.
Job Description:
Operational & Financial Control:
As the Operations Controller you will understand, monitor, and report on production processes.
Calculate and analyse standard cost prices
As the Operations Controller you will conduct monthly production variance analysis
Develop, track, and report production‑based KPIs
As the Operations Controller you will perform variance analysis of actual costs versus budget and prior year
Complete costing and production‑related monthly closing activities
Lead the annual budgeting process for all operational items
Provide required documentation and responses for internal and external audits
Address and resolve audit non‑conformities by correcting identified issues
Provide first‑line SAP support
As the Operations Controller you will analyse and improve working capital performance
Support monthly closing and P&L reporting
Analyse plant and non‑plant operational costs Candidate Requirements:
Education Level & General Experience
Formal accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, CIMA, ACCA) or a master's degree in economics/finance, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience gained within a manufacturing environment, ideally with exposure to standard costing and production processes
Previous experience in working as an Operations Controller, Financial Controller, Cost Accountant, Manufacturing Accountant, Management Accountant, Financial Analyst, Costing Analyst or similar is essential
Previous experience using SAP and Power BI is desirable
Broad financial knowledge, including understanding of financial theory, principles, and professional accounting practices
Strong data analysis and reporting skills
Driving Licence due to ad-hoc travel to Wolverhampton
This role is commutable from: Stoke on Trent, Newcastle under Lyme, Longton, Uttoxeter, Stone, Stafford, Leek, Cheadle, Eccleshall and surrounding areas
This role would suit candidates with the following experience: an Operations Controller, Financial Controller, Cost Accountant, Manufacturing Accountant, Management Accountant, Financial Analyst, Costing Analyst or similar
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Salary: Up to £45.000 Per Annum
