Our client, a leading provider of Alternative Provision for Children & Young People aged 7 - 16 (KS2-4) in Brislington, City of Bristol, is seeking a Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. Our client is based at a lovely, expansive site in Brislington, Bristol, where they provide bespoke learning packages tailored to meet the unique needs of their learners. These young people have experienced difficulties in accessing mainstream provision and require a nurturing and supportive environment to thrive. Currently, learners are placed with our client for up to 15 hours per week, but as the organisation grows and seeks Department for Education (DFE) status, they aim to offer full-time provision in the future.
As a Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of these children. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Working closely with the teaching staff to create and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons
* Providing one-to-one support to learners with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the individualised attention they require to progress
* Assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
* Encouraging and motivating learners to reach their full potential, both academically and socially
* Maintaining accurate records of learners' progress and providing regular feedback to teachers and parents
* Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and fosters a love for learning
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
* A Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Education, or a related field (desirable)
* Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (essential)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with children who may have challenging behaviours
* The ability to adapt and think creatively to meet the diverse needs of learners
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
