We have a fantastic new opportunity to join Platform Housing Group as our first Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Officer — a truly unique role where innovation meets people.
This is a brand-new position, created to help our customers live safely and independently in their homes using smart technology and digital solutions. From personal alarms and motion sensors to Smart speaker integrations and adapted lighting, you'll play a key role in helping residents stay connected, safe, and supported.
You'll be part of a small but growing team, reporting directly to our Technology Enabled Care Service Manager, and will help us deliver our new strategy that builds on the successful TAPPI 2 project (Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation) which is aimed to improve the way technology is used in housing and care for older people up and down the country.
This is a great chance to shape how we use technology throughout our Retirement homes and beyond — making a real difference to the services we provide and the way we support our customers. We want to ensure they feel confident in using technology in a way that continues to promote their independence, safety and connectivity whilst settling into a world that is becoming more reliant on technology.
While this is a home-based role, regular travel across our operational areas — from Herefordshire to Lincolnshire — will be required to visit residents and schemes. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential. You'll also need to complete an Enhanced DBS check, as you'll be working directly with residents.
About You
You'll bring a genuine passion for helping people and a natural curiosity about how technology can make life easier and safer. Above all, you'll have the people skills, patience, and empathy to support residents — many of whom may be new to using digital devices or assistive technology.
You'll be confident working directly with customers, taking time to listen, explain, and guide them through new solutions in a reassuring and supportive way. You'll have experience working in housing, social care, or community support, but it's your approach that really counts — we'll provide all the technical training you need. Ideally, you'll come with some knowledge of the technology our customers may need, and you'll have a proactive approach in understanding the Technology Enabled Care sector.
You'll also have good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and work collaboratively with colleagues, suppliers, and other teams to deliver projects.
A Typical Day Might See You
* Visiting residents in their homes or schemes to discuss assistive technology solutions.
* Researching existing and new products that could benefit our services and customers.
* Raising awareness of Technology Enabled Care amongst colleagues.
* Working with suppliers and manufacturers to coordinate installation and provide feedback on improvements.
* Building relationships with other organisations.
* Supporting internal teams to embed technology-enabled care into our service offer.
* Promoting independence, digital inclusion, and confidence among our older residents.
