About Us
Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is located in Wimborne, Dorset, at the outskirts of the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District. With approximately 130 employees, the site has over 50 years of heritage manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the renowned Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands. The facility produces genset packages ranging from 1.5 L to 7.1 L, as well as 7.1 L propulsion engines. Our highly skilled designers, engineers, and technicians deliver solutions for commercial, leisure, and military customers. Every engine is fully proven before leaving the site, ensuring exceptional performance and reliability.
Job Opportunity
Lead the stores team in all aspects of logistics and warehousing processes that support Manufacturing Assembly Operations and Part Sales. This role reports directly to the Stores Supervisor and is based in Wimborne.
Responsibilities
* Establish and implement short‑ and long‑term logistic strategies that provide lean movement of material and product (domestic and international) while maintaining Bills of Material and stock accuracy in SAP.
* Arrange daily activities related to engine release, kitting, sales orders, goods receipts, stock locating, and grief resolution.
* Report all store metrics at the end‑of‑day review meeting.
* Tackle problems reactively to find root causes and develop permanent solutions, ensuring the warehouse “critical” activity monitor remains up‑to‑date.
* Assist with the annual stock‑take and supply all relevant information to accounts.
* Proactively improve end‑to‑end processes in line with CPS activities and maximize pull in the value stream before and after production.
* Ensure store personnel receive adequate safety and warehouse procedure training.
* Conduct monthly 1‑to‑1 meetings with team members and confirm goal achievement.
* Maintain accurate kit and bin location data in the system and on the trackside.
* Focus on health and safety for all employees in the area of responsibility and conduct weekly audit reviews of standard work.
* Promote a 5‑S culture in the stores and report weekly findings to the store supervisor.
* Keep the training matrix up‑to‑date, ensuring all licences are valid.
Skills & Experience
* Strong working knowledge of eSAP Warehouse Management.
* Experience in material, inventory control and manufacturing operations.
* Working knowledge of company products and solid analytical skills.
* Experience using Microsoft Teams and Excel.
* Warehouse management experience.
* Previous supervisory or leadership role.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI.
* Experience with SAP HANA/ECC inventory‑managed processes.
