Role Overview
The RF Power Project Development team is responsible for the development and delivery of next generation future products within the RF Power division portfolio. Although this is a multi-disciplined team, this role focuses on the test and evaluation of high‑power RF products and systems, alongside application support.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for RF power products.
* Perform detailed RF performance evaluations, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
* Provide technical application support to customers, addressing performance queries and integration challenges.
* Work closely with design, manufacturing and quality teams to optimise product performance.
* Assist in the development of test procedures and automated testing systems.
* Generate detailed technical documentation, test reports and application notes.
* Support product development cycles from prototype to production.
* Understand the technical concepts and practical applications of systems architecture.
* Plan, undertake and manage a range of test activities to deliver in a timely manner.
* Support a proactive safety culture, including risk management and mitigation.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas in a customer‑facing role (typical 5‑10% per year).
Required Qualifications
* Degree in Electrical or Electronic engineering, or equivalent experience in a professional engineering development/production environment.
* Knowledge of RF testing, measurements and application support.
* Proven ability to work from instructions and procedures.
* Proficiency with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators) and interpreting results.
* Comfortable working in a small engineering team and supporting others.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Excellent communication skills for technical discussions and customer support.
* Proactive approach with keen attention to detail.
* Experience with complete product life cycle design from concept through final design and customer handover.
* Familiarisation with BS EN61010 electrical safety standard and Low Voltage Directive 2014/34/EU.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledge of magnetron and travelling wave tube operation.
* Working knowledge of RF principles and ability to undertake RF power monitoring system measurements.
* Further understanding of RF measurement techniques and result interpretation.
* Knowledge of high‑voltage testing, particularly electrical safety.
