Overview
Assistant Quantity Surveyor role at Vistry Group (Vistry South East, Caterham office). You will report to the Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor and assist the commercial delivery of residential development schemes. You will support cost management for development and contracting projects from procurement to the completion of sub-contract final accounts. This role requires experience in a similar level position within a main contractor or developer in the region. Responsibilities
* Assist the commercial delivery of residential development schemes and cost management from procurement to final accounts.
* Assist with the compilation of tender packages for sub-contract trades and analyze tenders.
* Issue sub-contract orders in line with Group Policy and Commercial Best Practice, within budget and programme requirements; attend sub-contract pre-order meetings.
* Liaise with Build Department on sub-contractors’ performance and compliance with order conditions.
* Produce sub-contract orders in accordance with site programme and Group Policy; fully adjudicate prior to issue.
* Provide forecast and site budget information to meet reporting requirements; assist with cost control and post-contract cost movements.
* Ensure invoices/applications for payments comply with Standard Terms and Conditions of Contract; notify management of any potential claims or disputes.
* Utilise project administration systems (BMS) for orders, variations, valuations, etc.; assist in material valuations and variations.
* Assist with preparing and agreeing sub-contract final accounts and maintaining final account schedules.
* Maintain organized filing and information retrieval consistent with the Business Management System; attend departmental meetings and communicate with colleagues across regions.
* Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures; report accidents or near misses and keep the workplace tidy and safe.
* Attend required health and safety training and wear appropriate protective clothing on site.
Qualifications
* HNC / Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
* Good knowledge of construction methods, materials, and standard measurement rules.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills; able to assess and analyse information; good business sense.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team; excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Willingness to develop professionally and follow a training plan.
Desirable
* HND or Degree in Construction.
* Member or working toward Chartered status (e.g., CIOB) or CIPS; knowledge of COINS systems.
