We're entering an exciting new chapter — and we're looking for a Treasurer to join our Board, guiding our finances as we grow and transform to make even greater impact on dementia.
What difference will you make?
As Treasurer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the Dementia Trust is financially resilient and positioned to grow its impact. Your leadership will help us safeguard resources, strengthen governance, and invest with confidence in pioneering projects that improve the lives of people living with dementia and their carers. You will not only keep us on track financially, but also help shape our vision for the future — ensuring that every pound we raise and grant we make delivers meaningful, lasting change. By joining the Board, you will directly influence how we support innovators and changemakers across the globe who are transforming the dementia landscape.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Treasurer with Financial expertise – a qualified accountant or senior-level financial management experience. Strategic mindset – the ability to translate financial insight into clear guidance that informs Board decision-making. Governance awareness – understanding of charity finances, reporting requirements and compliance (or the ability to quickly learn). Collaborative style – strong communication skills and the willingness to contribute as part of a supportive, engaged Board. Values-driven commitment – alignment with the Dementia Trust's mission and passion for making a real difference to people affected by dementia. Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector would be an advantage, but we are open to candidates from all professional backgrounds who can bring the right expertise and energy.
What will you be doing?
The Dementia Trust is at a pivotal moment in its journey. With 1 in 3 people in the UK likely to develop dementia, our mission is to change the narrative by funding innovative projects that enhance quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers. We are currently strengthening our governance and growing our reach, with ambitious plans for redevelopment and transformation. We are now looking to appoint a Treasurer to our Board of Trustees. This is a key leadership role that combines both strategic oversight and operational responsibility for aspects of our financial management. Working alongside fellow trustees and the Chair, the Treasurer will help ensure the Trust's finances are well-governed, legally compliant, and aligned with our long-term strategy. Our outgoing Treasurer, Ross, has given nine years of dedicated service and helped us put strong financial systems in place. We are now seeking someone who can build on this solid foundation and bring fresh energy and ideas as we move into the next stage of growth. The right person will bring strong financial acumen and the confidence to guide board discussions on financial matters. We are seeking someone who is not only technically skilled but also creative, energetic, and willing to contribute to the bigger picture as we enter an exciting phase of development. Joining our Board offers the opportunity to play a central role in shaping the next chapter of the Dementia Trust. You'll be part of a committed team of trustees working together to ensure that our funding delivers meaningful, lasting impact across the UK.
