SOLIDWORKS FURNITURE DESIGN ENGINEER
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday Salary: £31,000 per annum Location: Derbyshire (with occasional off‑site travel)
A leading UK furniture manufacturer‑supplying kitchen, bathroom and bedroom products to national house builders, social housing providers, merchants, retail showrooms and large accommodation projects is seeking a talented Furniture Design Engineer to join its Product Design team.
About the Role
You will play a key part in the design, development, prototyping, testing and launch of new furniture products across multiple market sectors. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role that blends creativity with technical precision.
Key Responsibilities
* Designing and developing new furniture products from concept through to final manufacture.
* Producing accurate technical and manufacturing drawings under time pressure.
* Meeting with clients, interpreting requirements and managing projects from quotation to delivery.
* Supporting manufacturing and data teams by creating assembly drawings and initial BOMs.
* Working collaboratively within a team and communicating effectively across departments.
* Liaising with suppliers, supporting procurement, and assisting with the introduction of new products.
* Conducting industry and competitor research, including monitoring manufacturing and technological advancements.
What We’re Looking For
* A degree in Product Design or proven industry experience within furniture manufacturing.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software. Knowledge of SketchUp or Revit is beneficial but not essential.
* Strong technical understanding of production and manufacturing processes.
* A solid background in furniture design.
* Competence with Microsoft Office applications.

* Quick to learn and confident working independently.
* Proactive, solution‑focused, and comfortable expressing ideas and opinions.
* Confident communicating with customers, suppliers and internal teams—phone included.
* Flexible, eager to learn, and adaptable to changing project demands.
* A full UK driving licence is advantageous but not essential.
