Join to apply for the Clinical Service Lead – Perinatal role at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen. We are looking for a Clinical Service Lead to provide day-to-day operational management and clinical leadership to our Perinatal Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management of the staff who work in these teams and for the performance management of the services in terms of quality, finance, human resource management and governance. There will be opportunities to lead on service development and QI projects. The successful candidate will be experienced in working with external partners and have energy, drive and enthusiasm for working in a complex environment.

The multi-disciplinary team composition is as follows: Clinical Service Lead, Team Managers, Lead Consultant, Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Psychologists and Psychotherapists, Specialist Nurses, Nursery Nurses, Social Worker, Occupational Therapists, Peer Support Workers, a Specialist Mental Health Midwife and administrative staff.

Applications are welcome from individuals who do not have experience of working in Perinatal Services but can demonstrate transferable skills. Working alongside the Lead Consultant, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Team Leaders, this role is a great opportunity for candidates who have been working at Band 7 and are looking to take the next step in their career development, or those who are looking to expand their experience in a community setting.

The clinicians assess and review clients in a number of clinic venues in the service catchment area, including the three hospitals where there are maternity services (St George’s Hospital, St Helier’s Hospital and Kingston Hospital). The Medical, Nursing, Psychology and Psychotherapy members of the multidisciplinary team are organised in three sub-teams with a geographically defined clinical remit (Wandsworth sub-team, Merton and Sutton sub-team, Kingston and Richmond sub-team). The Occupational Therapists and Social Worker are shared across all three sub-teams. Integrated into the Perinatal Mental Health Service is the Perinatal Trauma and Loss Team (PTLT). Delivering a holistic, personalised, and trauma-informed care pathway within and outside of the service, the team also conducts outreach into local maternity services and establishes close working relationships with primary care services.
