Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Integrated Workforce team, which works in the Eastern Valleys area within South East Wales. You will be based at our Cilfynydd Depot near Pontypridd. As this role carries an emergency incident callout role for flooding incidents, all applicants should live within 45 minutes reach of the Cilfynydd depot, post code CF37 4NE.
This is a physically active, predominantly outdoor role - you'll work in all weathers and frequently in challenging, remote locations alongside a small team of 2-4 colleagues. You will be part of a 24-hour emergency response team, participating in a standby rota and delivering crucial assistance during flood events or other incident responses. The role follows a 9-day working pattern (with every second Friday off), and a badged vehicle is provided for travel to and from site. A full driving licence is essential. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance. NRW supports flexible working.
Responsibilities
* Provide a manual labour service for the maintenance of NRW assets which include flood risk assets and NRW managed land.
* Operate equipment such as hand-held tools which may include chainsaws.
* Operate as a banksman and slinger/signaller.
* Understand technical and utility plans and operate in compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
* Use small plant and machinery such as Aebi/Reform, pedestrian mowers, woodchippers, etc.
* Be part of an incident response team and undertake health and safety duties appropriate to the post.
* Commit to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy and understand how it applies to the post.

* Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade of the role.
* Take part in incident response activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Relevant operator licences for tools, machinery and plant or be working towards achieving them.
* IOSH Working Safely; ICT competence (basic level); Emergency First Aid+
* Experience in forestry, construction, agricultural, environmental or plant operations is desirable.
* Physically demanding role; reasonable fitness levels required.
* Confident working in and near water. Basic literacy and numeracy; GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential.
* Full UK driving licence (ideally to include cat B + E for trailer tow).
* Welsh Language Level requirements: Essential Level A1 (entry level, able to use and understand simple phrases). If not meeting A1, NRW offers learning options and staff support during employment.
