Assistant Site Manager – Fairisle Infant and Nursery School Would you like to help us make a positive impact on our children and their families? Fairisle Infant and Nursery School is a three-form entry school with a separate Nursery building on site. We are on the same site as Fairisle Junior School. We are part of the Bridge Education Trust Southampton. The school is an inclusive setting with an emphasis on a child-centred and family friendly approach to care and learning. We are seeking a reliable, practical, and proactive Assistant Site Manager to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of our school site. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will help ensure the school provides a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. Fairisle Infant and Nursery School and Fairisle Junior School have two site managers that work across both sites. The position has arisen due to the retirement of the Site Manager at Fairisle Infant and Nursery School. The successful applicant will be working across both Fairisle Infant and Nursery school and Fairisle Junior School sites and will report to the Site Manager. Key Responsibilities Assist with the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of school buildings and grounds Support health and safety procedures, including risk assessments and compliance checks Carry out basic repairs, decorating, and minor DIY tasks Assist with opening and closing the school premises, including security checks Support cleaning teams and external contractors as required Set up rooms for lessons, events, and examinations Respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, and site-related issues Assist with winter maintenance, including gritting and snow clearance About You Practical, hands-on, and able to carry out basic maintenance tasks Good understanding of health and safety requirements Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently or as part of a team Good communication and interpersonal skills Previous experience in site management, caretaking, or facilities maintenance is desirable Experience working in a school or similar environment is an advantage Why Join Us? ü We are a vibrant and diverse school ü We have a Rights Respecting School culture that permeates everything that we do ü We have enthusiastic children who love learning and 'being the best that they can be' ü We are school that has TAAES Status and use this approach in our daily practice ü We prioritise Mental Health and Well-being for both Staff and Pupils ü We have an extremely dedicated, professional and hard-working team who put the child at the heart of everything they do ü We have a strong and effective Governing Body ü An exciting career opportunity Details Start Date: April 2026 Contract type: Permanent Salary: SCC Grade 4 scale point 5 (£25,583 salary) Days to be worked: Monday to Friday Keyholder role with responsibility for site security outside normal school hours 37 hours and 52 weeks Your hours of work will be 37 hours per week. Your normal working pattern will be 5 days per week, and your daily working hours will be agreed with the headteacher.
