With a large ramp up of work in front of us, we have a host of engineering projects which require our Delivery team to provide enthusiasm and innovation to deliver engineering excellence. To provide engineering technical direction to the discipline engineers in either water or water recycling non-infrastructure projects, we are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to join the team!
What will you be doing as our new Lead Civil Engineer?
Collaborating with key stakeholders and assist the multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure the project solution is providing best value for business through being fit for purpose and completed on time, to budget, and to the correct quality. You’ll also collaborate with other stakeholders throughout the business to drive continuous developments in engineering, design, and innovation. In addition, you’ll be responsible for delivering your own projects as a civil engineer.
Key responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with Principal Engineer, Design Managers and Technical managers to acquire upcoming project milestones and design review dates. Regularly report to the Principal Engineer.
2. Review project design calculations and ensure they have been completed by project teams.
3. Review construction site design queries and change requests to ensure quick but accurate responses and/or the design remains suitable.
4. Liaise with other departments and project teams with respect to design requirements and ensure own project workload is completed to the correct standards and specifications.
5. Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team. Whilst working across the Alliance project areas and Pan-Alliance to set technical common standards and processes.
6. Ensure designs comply with all statutory civil standards and regulations and water industry standards and regulations.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours….
To join us on the team, you’ll hold a degree in Civil or be able to demonstrate a degree level of knowledge through relevant experience. Ideally, you’d be a chartered engineer by relevant chartership body (e.g., ICE) but this is not essential, more importantly you can demonstrate a level of competence in practical civil engineering design experience in the water / wastewater industry environment.
You’ll have a proven track record in design and integration of civil process systems, and equipment, and have some experience in the Mentoring and coaching of junior engineers. You’ll have the ability to work with people from different partner company backgrounds and disciplines and utilise their knowledge and experience - implement tried and tested ways of working. Whilst adding to this with own experience and know how.
