Salary range: £50,000 to £70,000 pa depending on experience
Location: Glasgow, Bristol, Burton on Trent, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Manchester, Plymouth (flexible hybrid working, with time split between the office and working from home)
We are looking to recruit an engineer experienced in assessing the structural integrity of gas turbines to support growing demand for our services from clients in the aerospace and power industries. Primarily using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods, you will conduct strength, fatigue (low cycle and high cycle fatigue), creep and defect tolerance assessments of safety-critical parts to help our clients develop new designs, solve operational problems, and justify the life extension of existing assets. You will write bespoke software tools to assess components more quickly or in more detail to remove conservatism.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to deliver and lead projects across the entire Frazer-Nash portfolio, supporting clients in defence, energy, and transport sectors. Our projects vary in duration and complexity, and you will be involved in multiple projects simultaneously. You will communicate with clients to understand their needs and develop approaches to deliver desired outcomes and insights.
Although primarily a technical role, you will work across our business and with clients, requiring good interpersonal skills, decision-making, problem-solving, initiative, and ownership. Reporting to your Group Leader, you will be responsible for your own work, supported by experienced engineers, and will mentor junior staff while contributing to service development and strategy. There are ample growth opportunities in various engineering areas.
