About The Role

Are you an energetic and creative Speech and Language Therapist who is keen to work in a supportive multi-disciplinary setting? Are you looking to make a difference to the lives of young people with complex needs and/or autism? Then come and join us in Beaumont College.

Beaumont College is a well-respected specialist college that offers individualised educational programmes for young people aged 16 25 with a broad range of learning needs. The college is based in Lancaster and supports day colleges in Blackpool, Ulverston and Carlisle. The Communication Department works closely with the other therapists in college, and supports the Education Team, the Positive Behaviour Support Team and the Student Support Team to ensure that students can access the curriculum and develop their communication skills. The college is a Total Communication Environment and staff are supported to implement a range of approaches including Intensive Interaction, AAC and Makaton.

We welcome applications from therapists who are looking to join an established service and develop their specialism. There will be opportunities to develop your professional therapy skills and knowledge. The role is primarily communication based although there may be opportunities to develop your skills in dysphagia within the field of adult learning disabilities. Dysphagia experience is therefore not essential. The ideal candidate will have some experience of supporting people with complex physical, learning and sensory needs, and have an interest in autism, social and emotional learning needs, AAC and/or developing early communication skills.
