Contract Duration: ASAP - April 2026 (Initial duration, potential for extension)
Location: Remote (Occasional travel to London, Manchester, or Bristol)
Engagement: Umbrella only - Inside IR35
Clearance Requirement: Must be eligible for SC clearance - British nationals only
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Content Designer to join a cross-functional digital team, delivering user-focused content for government services. The successful candidate will work across various platforms and touchpoints, with a focus on creating clear, accessible, and user-centred content that aligns with GDS standards.
This role requires someone confident working independently across all stages of design-from research and ideation through to delivery and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and deliver clear, accessible content in line with the GDS (Government Digital Service) standards
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including service designers, user researchers, and developers
3. Use evidence, data and research to make content decisions and iterate based on feedback
4. Ensure content reflects the organisation's tone of voice, brand and values
5. Simplify complex information and processes using plain English
6. Contribute to and maintain content strategies and style guides
7. Engage with stakeholders and manage relationships effectively
8. Support continuous improvement practices (e.g. Agile, Lean methodologies)
Mandatory Skills & Experience
9. Experience with the Power Platform
10. Proficient in Microsoft 365 (M365) suite
11. Practical experience working to GDS standards
Desirable Skills
12. Experience with legal process and/or document redesign (not essential)
13. Background in continuous improvement or agile delivery environments
14. Ability to coach others in clear communication principles
