Wetherby Pembridge Minors is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and career‑minded Nursery Assistant to join our team from January 2026.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the school team to provide a safe, high‑quality early‑years environment for young children.
* Provide support to the teaching team under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team.
* Assist with routines and organisational matters for the existing teaching team.
* Monitor children’s safety through appropriate levels of supervision and assist in planning the curriculum by providing safe, creative and inclusive educational opportunities, preparing activities, organising programmes and arranging equipment.
* Ensure that all activities are carried out safely and responsibly in accordance with statutory responsibilities, and advise the room leader of any concerns regarding children, equipment, etc.
* Follow all school policies, including safeguarding and confidentiality procedures.
* Contribute to the school's highest standards of physical and emotional care, health and safety, and personal and food hygiene at all times.
* Engage in positive interactions with children by supporting or providing stimulating activities that respond to their interests and developmental needs.
* Perform work that requires bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting or holding children, changes of nappies and toileting duties.
* Promote positive values, attitudes and good child behaviour, deal promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage children to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
* Actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring nursery school policies and procedures are observed at all times.
