We are recruiting for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join a stunning gastro pub located on the outskirts of Colchester, easily commutable from Colchester, Braintree, Ipswich and surrounding areas.
Known for its charm, character, and loyal local following, this busy fresh-food venue serves high-quality traditional and modern British dishes, including an la carte menu and daily chalkboard specials. The kitchen caters for up to 300 covers across lunch and dinner services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Senior Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef ready to step up within a professional, high-volume kitchen.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen while maintaining consistently high food standards. Youll also assist with menu development, specials creation, stock management, and team training.
What Were Looking For
Previous experience in a quality fresh-food gastro pub or restaurant
Strong skills across all kitchen sections
Passion for high-quality food and presentation
Ability to perform well in a busy, fast-paced environment
Good kitchen management and leadership skills
Experience with stock control, rota planning, and menu input
Positive attitude with the ability to motivate and train junior chefs
Creative flair and enthusiasm for new ideas
Own transport essential due to location
