This post is based in Milton Keynes and covers three sites across the area: Eaglestone, Shipley Court and Urgent Care. Travel between sites is essential.
Responsibilities
* Maintain high standards of Infection Prevention Control.
* Assist patients throughout their treatment journey.
* Line management and leadership duties.
* Ensure the surgery is welcoming and prepared for the type of patient and treatment planned.
* Provide chair‑side assistance to clinicians, including treating special care patients with learning or physical disabilities, patients with complex medical conditions, diagnosed mental health conditions, anxious children and adults, acting under the supervision and direction of the clinician.
* Assist in the provision of dental treatment on a domiciliary basis.
* Assist in the provision of dental treatment in secure settings.
* Assist in the provision of dental treatment under inhalation/intravenous sedation.
* Assist in the provision of dental care under general anaesthesia.
* Assist during screenings or epidemiological surveys and related duties.
* Direct line management.
* Work with management and senior clinicians on allocated service‑specific areas.
* Communicate appropriately with the clinical team and peers.
* Apply ethical principles relevant to dentistry, including honesty, confidentiality and professional integrity, and comply with GDC standards.
* Take responsibility for continuous professional development and maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Participate in appraisal, peer review, clinical audit and other professional development activities.
* Provide supervision and annual appraisals for staff.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge and skills in clinical techniques in line with GDC lifelong learning requirements.
* Obtain and maintain required security clearance to work in secure settings.
* Attend mandatory training as required by CNWL and the Dental Service.
* Maintain full registration with the General Dental Council.
* Take responsibility for personal development.
* Commit to high professional standards.
* Travel to other dental sites as required, making necessary travel arrangements.
* Lead quality improvement projects and clinical governance initiatives.
* Carry out clerical duties, including appointment making, answering telephone calls and general enquiries, collecting mail, and accounting for monies received.
* Undertake duties delegated by clinicians, senior management and the Dental Nurse Manager.
* Maintain stock levels of consumable items and store/stock control duties.
* Provide line management documentation for one‑to‑one meetings, appraisals and clinical supervision with direct reports.
Qualifications and experience
* Experienced, IV trained and qualified Dental Nurse.
* Experience in general anaesthesia.
* Full registration with the General Dental Council.
* Security clearance for secure settings.
* Demonstrated ability to provide chair‑side assistance to a wide range of patient groups, including special care, paediatric, secure and sedation cases.
* Strong knowledge of Infection Prevention Control and quality improvement projects.
* Proven skill in managing stock and general clerical duties.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
